hmmmmm Paula,

a tricky one .. lol,

i must admit i would be wary as one of my friends had a stalker and in the end she left altogether as she said she had given him information he could use against her, so a lesson learned there .. he was always starting new names even female one's but she could tell by his message it was him, and tried to friend her and all her friends.

but then again ...............

he may be perfectly genuine which is a nice thought,

at the end of the day you can always unfriend him if you feel uncomfortable.

just my pennies worth,

Suzanne x

You can't be too careful on facebook.

I think I would agree with Doreen here- but who can really tell? He also sounds as if he may live in another country altogether? It's a difficult one really. Have .you looked at his page?

I've been on a dating site for a while and have been on the receiving end of some scams. I have become pretty adept at spotting dodgy messages & people.

Be careful, one alarm bell for me is the use of ma'am and the strange wording. Sounds Americanised and not dissimilar to messages I received. Also the enthusiastic compliments. We love them, we are too trusting!

By all means befriend him but keep your wits about you. If all of a sudden his daughter has had an accident & he needs money, or he is stranded and needs money or needs the fare to come and see you block him immediately.

Sorry to put a dampener on it but would rather you be miffed a bit than taken for a ride by confidence trickster.

Good luck x

Blushing Confused Scared Hello Paula
I see Suzanne's thoughts.

Earlier I asked my husband......he said go careful if you know nothing about the person!
In one way it sounds lovely that someone out there feels something for someone on the internet without meeting them - but a part of me feels uncomfortable that this maybe one of the conns to hook you in to disclosing your personal habbits like living alone or a wealthy lady of leisure if you get my meaning!!

If it were genuine then I am happy, but I worry if it is a scam and you get hurt and fingers burnt.

If it was me, I run away!

Recently on twitter I had a man "following" me on twitter - I read up his previous messages........he wanted to do intimate things to women around the country. WELL I BLOCKED him.......the naughty sex craved pest - yes I told my husband!!!

Good luck Paula.

I would be happy for the compliment but be very wary, I don't do Facebook myself but if I did I think I would just ignore him.
I actually met my husband through an Internet chat room 10 years ago.
Whatever you decide, take care.

Oh Ladies, Ladies, I seem to of started some sort of a serious discussion.

Forgive me, I feel I must put a stop to all of your concerns for me. I didn't mean to make you think I had taken it serious.....I did put the post in the Bit of Fun section.

I am happily married, but I don't say this in my profile, in fact I don't give much information at all about myself.

This is is the third message along similar lines that I have had. The last one from someone who lived in England alone with his daughter and wanted to get to know me more. I thought it was a regular thing that happened on facebook, someone wanting to be your friend, praying on the vulnerable, hoping to strike lucky with someone. Any one else had this happen to them?

I just thought it was funny, especially the rare beauty bit. His profile name of Richiebay Rapperholic didn't do him any favours either.

So ladies, please don't worry about me, I never had any intentions to reply to him. Just thought it was amusing and wanted to give you all a laugh.

Paula (aka..... the rare beauty)LOL LOL

Hi Paula - or should I say rare beauty!!! Well you've certainly given me a laugh - I was going to post you a warning, blah, blah, but now I'm having a giggle at how serious we can all be!!!

I think I'll go over to FB right now and start stalking someone of my own - just for the fun of it!!

Phew!!!!!! glad that's all sorted and you realise that it was meant to be a light hearted post.

But still nice to know that you all had my best interest at heart and were all giving me your views and concerns and watching out for me.

I have thought about changing my name on here to Rare Beauty in Homage to my new admirer......Richiebay Rapperholic...............

But decided against it, I really mustn't let his comments go to my head after all I am a mature lady, a grandmother of two and thinking of when Dorothy referred to '50 shades of grey' (is that a new hair colour?), that would describe my hair if I didn't have it done every 6 weeks! LOL

Love to you all

Paula x and for one more last time.....aka..... The Rare Beauty

Excellent - didn't we all rush to your aid, completely ignorning (or not realising) we were looking at the bit of fun thread!

To add to your Rare Beauty - I have had a gangsta name given to me 'Angie Tipless' because I'd burnt my fingertips off accidentally with glue. Bit random but there is a tenuous link!
